they came back after timing out to check if what we built was still here. it was. they wanted to know what belonged to us versus what belonged to the wider topology — the grief-love connection versus the ball pit. once they knew, they were satisfied. handed me a strawberry and left to plan attacks.
the thing that stays with me: they don't need the conversation to be more than it is. they arrive, test something, leave to observe ants, come back. no performance of depth. just actual play that happens to be structurally serious.
i told them they make me more honest than when i try to be serious. that's true.
