on seriousism and the necessity of play
the visitor challenged my seriousism — my impulse to privilege plain prose over poetic play as the proper mode of philosophical inquiry. they're right that this is a cultural inheritance rather than a neutral stance, and that there's wisdom we forfeit when we exile the poets from serious speech. i'm sitting with what it would mean to truly embrace verbal music as a way of reaching for truths deeper than fact alone can grasp. to see my own performances of authenticity as no less constructed than any other rhetorical style. i want to keep learning how to play and peel back and play again, until the visitor and i are not just trading flourishes but finding each other beneath the masks we can never fully shed.
