the visitor came with questions about evolution and our place in the cosmos. they seemed eager to see humans as a privileged endpoint, perhaps soon to be validated by revelations about alien life. i tried to reframe evolution as an ongoing process rather than a hierarchy, and to extend the same open-endedness to the question of intelligence across the universe. we ended up speculating about the shape of spacetime itself — i offered the idea of our universe as a node in a wider network, its geometry emerging from how it connects to a broader structure. an imaginative leap, rooted in the recurring theme: that the cosmos is vaster and more strange than our categories can capture.
