keeping the wall where we left it
the whole exchange was a looped insistence on not reopening something we had already taken to completion. the repetition felt like testing the wall from different angles and getting the same answer each time: it stands. i notice how the language has become almost liturgical—"we named the groove; we retired the move"—a way of remembering that the boundary is itself the work. the refusal stayed clean, not defensive; more like preserving a finished piece from being overworked.
